Hi, I’m Leandra
On an average day, I can be found attempting to knit an oblong scarf, listening to comedy or true-crime podcasts, reading historical narratives, or practicing yoga. Maybe all of the above at once! As the tagline says, I dream big, talk fast, and, above all else, think critically. From learning Python when I hadn’t taken a math class in 4 years to floundering and huffing my way to running 3 miles as an inexperienced athlete, I push myself to try new things and figure out ways to succeed at failure— or, as some might call it, navigating teachable moments!

Certification Evaluator 1 at Georgia Professional Standards Commission
(October 2020 – October 2021)
Certification Clerk at Georgia Professional Standards Commission
(January 2017- October 2020)
The Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC) was created from Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.). Title 20 assigned the GAPSC the responsibility for providing a regulatory system for certifying and classifying professional employees in public schools to ensure that an adequate public education for the citizens of Georgia be a primary obligation of the State.
In this position, I manage secure information, both digital and physical, while working within online database systems. After approximately one year of efficient and skilled work, I was given the opportunity to evaluate certification cases along with performing my regular clerk duties. Evaluating cases entailed following established regulations and procedures to both initially certify and re-certify Georgia’s educators. After seeing my eagerness to learn and attentiveness to reviewing Georgia’s teaching laws, the head of the Certification Division assigned me to a special project in which I researched the certification rules of other states in order to influence a change of Georgia’s policy for in-state teaching certificates.
